THE FARM IN THE HEART OF LOMELLINA

Ferraris Luigi Agricultural Estate
since 1987 producing quality rice.

The Ferraris Luigi agricultural estate, located in the province of Pavia, in the heart of Lomellina (the kingdom of rice), produces rice, corn, and poplars on an area of 130 hectares.

The company, active since 1987, specializes in the production of Carnaroli Classico, Baldo Classico, S.Andrea Classico, Arborio, and Originario rice varieties, with a production of around 700/800 tons of paddy rice per year. The company invests heavily in the qualitative selection of seeds as a producer of seed paddy for various seed companies in the area. Agronomically, the company employs the agricultural technique of crop rotation, which, by interrupting the monoculture of rice, limits the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers for greater environmental respect.

The center of the company is “Cascina Alberona,” where rice is directly provided to consumers as a finished product. Packaging is done using the modern vacuum-sealing technique.

A legacy that continues over time.
Today, the activities of Cascina Alberona are also carried on by Luigi Ferraris’ sons: Mattia and Marco. With passion, expertise, and a deep connection to the land, they continue the path set by their father, combining tradition and innovation to maintain the values that have always characterized the family farm.

Our fields and environmental respect.

We offer products designed to meet, and sometimes anticipate, the demands of the most discerning food consumers.

We do this through our rice and its derived products, carefully cultivated in our fields, limiting the use of chemicals thanks to solutions like “green manure” and winter flooding of the rice fields, which enrich the soil with organic matter and nitrogen, as well as through the various and important Certifications obtained over the years to preserve and enhance the well-being that comes from the table.

We like to call ourselves “Rice Artists” for this very reason: a good risotto starts in the countryside, in the rice fields, and ends up on our plates for high-quality, especially genuine, cuisine!

Our history, the present and the future.

Luigi Ferraris, owner of the company, after studying agriculture at the Agricultural Institute of Castelfranco Veneto, began his activity in 1988 in the flat areas of Lower Lomellina in the locality of Mortara, 40 km from Pavia, in the heart of the typical rice-growing area. Luigi resumed the agricultural activity that his paternal grandparents already carried out in three different farms in Lomellina: “La Felicita”, “Montebello”, and “Alberona” after leaving the lands of the farm in Romagnano Sesia in the Novara area.

Over the years, the passion for this work has grown continuously, along with the desire to get closer to end consumers and restaurateurs. This is why the idea of creating a direct sales point was born in recent years: where you can “taste” Lomellina. Through the production first and then the direct sale of rice, the company aims to spread the culture of rice in our country, as a product with many nutritional and organoleptic qualities.
